Ocean Divers
Requirements for Diving
|
|
To maintain the highest level of
safety, we require the following:
CERTIFICATION
For ALL dives:
-
MUST be a certified diver OR under an Instructor's
supervision (instructor must be "current" and insured)
(please bring your C-card AND Logbook)
-
MUST have been diving in the past year
(please bring your logbook)
|
If you have not been diving within the past year,
you may be required to take a refresher course,
or make a "guided" dive with an instructor or
divemaster. For either of these, you should call
at least two weeks in advance to reserve.
|
For deep/wreck dives:
(Bibb, Duane, and Spiegel Grove)
In addition to the above requirements
|
EQUIPMENT
During the dive, ALL divers must have:
- BCD with power inflator (functioning properly)
For deep/wreck dives:
(Bibb, Duane, and Spiegel Grove)
In addition to the above requirements
- Depth gauge
- Timing device
- Alternate Air Source (octopus, etc.)
- Snorkel
- Upper Keys Artificial Reef Medallion
For Night dives:
In addition to the above requirements
- Primary Dive Light
- Chemical Light (or other "personal" marker light device)
AT ALL TIMES, ALL DIVERS SHOULD:
-
NOT be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
If you are drinking, or using drugs before the dive,
you don't dive.
-
NOT "share" scuba regulator with non-divers
or snorkelers
|
|
Additionally, we ask that you DO NOT wear
"flip-flops" on our boats and docks.
We DO understand that the soles on many "flip-flops" are
specially designed to grip wet decks, etc. Unfortunately,
by the nature of their design, these shoes do NOT grip feet
very well, especially when wet. On a moving boat deck,
this can easily result in a serious ankle injury.
Sandals with ankle support are OK.

intended to insure YOUR SAFETY.
